CVDF's README acknowledges Yann LeCun's permission to host the images and annotations.
The CVDF README does not supply a separate license file. The MIT label above is
reported from the ylecun dataset card; it is not inferred from CVDF's repository
or from the license on this website's code.

This distribution selects and shuffles images, preserving their original 28x28
pixels and labels. The manifest records original indices and input/output SHA-256
hashes. Train and validation indices are disjoint; test indices come exclusively
from the official test split. Runtime pooling is described in the notebook.

The image data is separate from the Apache-2.0 Java helper code and jax4j library.
Please retain dataset attribution and consult the upstream sources when reusing it.
